K. Prapanjan’s Kabaddi Journey

Early Passion

K. Prapanjan’s Kabaddi journey started in Sale, Tamil Nadu, where he was born. Coming from a family of Kabaddi enthusiasts, he inherited his love for the sport from his father, Kumaravel, who was a regional Kabaddi player. Growing up, Prapanjan was surrounded by the game, with his brother and sister also being Kabaddi players. He began playing Kabaddi from a young age, honing his skills through practice sessions with his family members. 

Athletic Nature

Even in school, Prapanjan’s athletic nature shone through as he was a part of the volleyball team. His strong build and natural athleticism set the foundation for his Kabaddi journey. After completing his studies at PSN Engineering College of Technology in Tirunelveli, he further immersed himself in the world of Kabaddi by joining the Sports Authority of India. Under their training, he developed into a skilled and seasoned Kabaddi player, earning recognition at the national level. 

PKL Career Highlights 

k. Prapanjan’s Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) career has been a mix of challenges and achievements. His journey has seen its share of ups and downs, and here’s a glimpse into his PKL achievements

Season 2

He marked his PKL debut in season 2 with U Mumba. Throughout the season, he played 4 matches and secured 7 points, showcasing his budding Kabaddi skills. 

U Mumba and Beyond

In the following season, U Mumba retained him. Despite some struggles, Prapanjan managed to play 11 matches and earn 12 points with a raid strike rate of 29%. 

Season 5

Season 5 brought a turning point as he was picked up by the Tamil Thalaivas. His performance took a positive turn, playing 22 matches and earning an impressive 124 points with a raid strike rate of 40%. 

Season 6  

Gujarat Giants picked him up in season 6 auctions, and he shone brightly. He played 22 matches, securing 123 points, and impressively, his raid strike rate increased to 48%. 

Season 7  

In season 7, the Bengal Warriors acquired Prapanjan’s skills. This turned out to be his peak season, where he played 20 matches, earned 105 points, and maintained a raid strike rate of 50%. 

Season 8 and 9  

Returning to the Tamil Thalaivas in season 8, Prapanjan played 7 matches, earning 21 points with a raid strike rate of 36%. In season 9, he played 1 match, securing 40 points with a raid strike rate of 61%. 

Looking Ahead  

As Prapanjan continues his Kabaddi journey, there’s hope that his determination and skills will once again lead him to excel in the upcoming seasons, solidifying his place in the world of Kabaddi.
